Hemoglobin falls late.

Live webinar · Thursday 8 October 2026 · Zoom
A 75-minute session for clinicians and laboratory teams. It looks at what routine hematology parameters can reveal about iron and platelets, and why that matters for earlier diagnosis.
Why it matters
Iron can be running low well before anemia shows on a blood count. By then, the window for early action has often passed.
Inflammation raises ferritin, so a normal result does not always mean normal iron. Chronic kidney disease, infection and other inflammatory conditions are common across the region.
Reticulocyte hemoglobin shows whether iron is reaching the newest red cells. It is reported alongside a routine blood count and supports earlier diagnosis and monitoring of treatment.
Featured speaker
Head, Haematopathology · Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru, India
Dr Pai explores how reticulocyte hemoglobin gives an early insight into iron availability for red cell production. Her session covers three uses in practice:

Platelet count alone does not always explain thrombocytopenia. Dr Khodaiji looks at how immature platelet fraction helps distinguish platelet destruction from reduced production, supporting earlier assessment and patient management.
Audience
Hematologists, pathologists and laboratory scientists. Also anesthesiologists, transfusion medicine and patient blood management teams, and clinicians in nephrology, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and primary care who order and act on iron tests.
